1940's Simplicity 1612 Vintage Sewing Pattern Teen-Age Bathing Suit and Beach Coat: The bra top is gathered at the sides and the center front is softly crushed with a tie. Shoulder straps cross and button in back and the front band has tie extensions which fasten in back. There are gathers at the side of trunks in front and soft pleats at lower sides in back. An elastic is inserted at center front to achieve a shirred effect and ribbon is drawn through eyelets in bands at sides of trunks. The beach coat, styled with soft gathers released from a forward shoulder seam, features a standing collar, side openings, bishop sleeves and patch pockets.
